TITLE: Baker
LOCATION: Snowbird Resort
STATUS: Full-time, year-round
SCHEDULE: Shifts vary based on business needs
SUMMARY
As a baker, you will work under the direction of the Pastry Chef to provide quality baked goods throughout the resort.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Report to work on time in the proper uniform.
- Ensure standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.
- Maintain good safety practices of employees throughout the kitchen.
- Participate in on-going employee training.
- Take part in all incentive programs.
- Maintain line of communication between Chef, Sous Chef and other kitchen staff.
- Complete daily duties before and after shift.
- Assist Pastry chef.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Food Handler Permit.
- Must demonstrate competency in reading writing and arithmetic and have the basic knowledge of culinary terms and knife skills.
- In addition, must demonstrate ability to learn recipes, handle all kitchen equipment, and learn basic kitchen techniques.
- Candidate must have the ability to multitask and prep several items at once while accepting directions from the Chef or Sous Chef.
- Position requires exercise of judgment within policy guidelines, problem solving and initiation of activities written job description and responsibility limitations.
- Also requires understanding of other Snowbird operations.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 4 or 5 am to 12 or 1 pm, depending on business levels.
- Typically, 5 days a week work schedule, flexibility with workdays preferred.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
- May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
